The latest addition to my website is Jon Fosse‘s Kvitleik (A Shining). A man who lives alone drives his car into a forest and gets stuck. There has been no sign of human habitation for a while so he does not know what to do. He sees a path into the forest and thinks it might lead somewhere but when he enters he sees a shining, a sort of light in human form. The shining approaches him and touches him but then disappears. What was it? He has no idea. He then hears voices and it seems that there are others in the forest but are they real or linked to the shining? And can they help him get out of the forest? This is a very short work but yet another fine work from the Nobel prizewinner.
