The latest addition to my website is Olufemi Terry‘s Wilderness of Mirrors. Emil Silva is studying to be a neurosurgeon in Johannesburg. The course is long and he decides to take a year break. At the suggestion of his father, he goes to visit his relatives in the south of the country in a town called.Stadtmutter. There he finds hat his widowed aunt and his two cousins are often absent from the home for their various reasons and he gets involved later with a mysterious man called.Lukas Bolling who is clearly very rich but not necessarily what he seems to be and also with a psychology student called Tamsin. Bolling seems to be helping.Braeem Shaka , a creole like most of the main characters in this book, who is calling for reparations for them and seems to be stirring up a certain amount of trouble for the authorities. Emil gets more and more involved with these people, which takes him out of his shell and gets him seeing the world from a different perspective but leaves him unsure of where he’s going and what he is doing. It gets more complicated when.Bolling ask him to look after Shaka who is now wanted by the police. This is a strange but fascinating book as all the key characters seems somewhat unsure of where they are going and what they are doing.
