The latest addition to my website is Bora Ćosić‘s Uloga moje porodice u svetskoj revoluciji (My Family’s Role in the World Revolution and Other Prose). The main story tells of Ćosić’s family living in Belgrade in World War II. The mother is paranoid and disorganised, the father a drunk who cannot hold a job, the aunts obsessed with US film stars, the uncle a transvestite and our narrator something of a lost soul. Chaos is their way of life and the Germans and Russians almost incidental. Somehow they strruggle on and stick together . Other pieces incudes further stories of the family and two pieces about Ćosić’s exile after the break-up of Yugoslavia.
